What Nexa is aiming for

This site is designed to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) version 2.1 at level AA. Somebody reaching for care is often not at their best, and may be using a screen reader, a keyboard, or a phone in bright sun. That is the normal case here, not the edge case.

What we have done

  • Real text, not pictures of text. It can be enlarged, selected, read aloud and translated.
  • Contrast, as measured. Body text on the background measures 10.03 to 1; the green measures 5.99 to 1; the green inside the shaded notes measures 5.52 to 1; the gold on navy measures 4.54 to 1. Level AA asks for 4.5 to 1 for ordinary text, and each of those measurements is above it. Decorative gold is never used for text.
  • The site is designed to work by keyboard, with a visible outline on whatever is focused, and a "skip to the main content" link first.
  • It works with no JavaScript. Nothing on these pages needs a script to be read or used.
  • Headings are set in order, so a screen reader can jump through the page.
  • The logo has a text description.
  • Motion is respected. If your device asks for reduced motion, the site is designed to honor it.

There is no accessibility widget on this site

Some sites float a small accessibility icon in the corner that offers to adjust the page for you. This site does not have one. Accessibility is part of how the pages are built, so there is nothing to switch on, and the settings you already rely on in your browser, your phone or your screen reader are not overridden here.

What is not done yet

  • A person who uses a screen reader every day has not yet tested this site. Automated checks catch some things; they do not catch whether a page makes sense.

If any part of this site does not work for you

Tell us and we will get you what you need another way: read it to you over the phone, mail it, or send it in a format that works. You do not need to explain what you use or why.

Where the obligation comes from

The Americans with Disabilities Act covers businesses open to the public, including what they offer online. If Nexa later receives federal health funding, a firm deadline also applies: a recipient with fewer than fifteen employees must meet the 2.1 AA standard by May 10, 2028, and one with fifteen or more by May 11, 2027.
